About the business and the role

We are seeking a motivated individual to work in one of the most important departments within a hotel - the Kitchen Department. This casual role is suited to a highly motivated individual with excellent customer service skills and a passion for working with people.

As a leading national hospitality provider, Silk Hospitality is looking to offer this brilliant opportunity to an experienced Kitchen Steward. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Stewarding supervisor with the professional and cost effective running of the Kitchen department achieving high standards of food safety, stock management and cleanliness. 

We are looking for suitable applicants to commence immediately, with availability across all days of the week.

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • 2 years of proven experience is essential, preferably 4/5 star hotel Committed to delivering excellent service & standards
  • Conducts china, glass and silver inventories stock control checks.
  • Controls inventories of food, equipment, small ware, and liquor, reporting shrinkage concerns to appropriate person.
  • Immaculate presentation and advanced communication skills
  • 'Can do' attitude
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Passionate in providing friendly personalised customer service
  • Ensure compliance with food handling and cleaning standards.
  • A desire to learn and progress within the team
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Enthusiasm, energy, initiative and commitment to customer service
  • Availability to work flexibly to suit the hours and needs of the business

Skills and experience

  • Responsible for achieving and exceeding guest service standards.
  • Attend to guest requests and resolve where possible.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and reporting of any hazards, faulty or damaged equipment to senior staff.
  • Willingness to be available for additional or varying duties as required by management.
  • Adherence to workplace health and safety policies and procedures, attends safety meetings or training where required.
  • Full working privileges for Australia (Australian Permanent Residency or Citizenship)
